My Favourite Comfort Films !!

Hello you guys! Yes , I'm alive.... :/
I know I know , I post a new blog and then disappear for months on end but blogging is more challenging than I thought.
But I hope you guys are well and happy!!
For today's blog, I'm gonna share a few of my favorite comfort movies that I have re-watched more than 50 times, no joke! To be very honest I'm not a big fan of watching new movies because of the anxiety of not knowing what's going to happen next and let's not even talk about the number of shows I'm in the middle of. I never, I mean never finish any show or web series!! But these are a few movies that I always go back to :)
Now ,without any further ado , lets get into the blog!!
Ps - most of these movies are Bollywood and are definitely very mainstream but I still love them and wanted to share them with yall. Also read till the end, to know my most favorite film of all time! Its the best film, trust me!

1. YEH JAWANI HAI DEEWANI
Ofc this movie is on the list, no surprise there. Trust me when I say that this movie is a favorite of all the Indians out there! This movie has made it possible for those trips to come out of the group chat and become a reality! Every single teen has a dream of going to Manali with their friends because of this movie. It set a new benchmark for friendships. Everything, from the cast to the location to the songs was perfect!

2. ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBARA
There's a strong theme of friendship and love in my comfort movies list. I'm hopeless romantic from all angles and I love love and people in love, be it in any form; friendship, self-love, romantic love and what not!
This movie is full of light-hearted moments that make you realise that nothing beats the joy of indulging in those silly little pranks with your friends! But it also shows the depth of friendships and how a trip with your friends can change the dynamics of your life so immensely and beautifully!
Again , with the cast , the Spain tour , the adventures , the banter , the beautiful and mature romance between Arjun and Laila and of course bagwati and diamond biscuit , Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara is a no-fail comfort film for me!
And as the name suggests , it teaches you that you only get to live once so why not live it to the fullest?

3. WAKE UP SID

I'm sure many of us relate to Sid's characters because he wants to do everything but study , like many of us! But it is Aisha's character that I relate to the most! Her simplicity , maturity and her drive to be independent and be at peace with herself is what resonated with me the most! It summarises the process of growing up ; how it can be discomforting and scary but also freeing and exhilarating! This movie is one of the reasons I want to go to Mumbai for college and romanticise the shit out of the city! But, the movie also made me realize it is okay to not be uptight and perfect all the time and to escape and find happiness in late-night drives with the best of your friends and having tea and jam sandwich with your roommate on your birthday!

4. JAB WE MET

This movie is the definition of grumpyXsunshine! This is such a joyous film to watch. From the very beginning , there is a perfect balance of drama , comedy and romance! The chemistry between Shahid and Kareena was so damn cute! The whole film you are left laughing , giggling , dancing and kicking your feet in the air! You don't care what happens to the main characters as long as they are happy and together!
Also the songs in this movie are uuuuffff!!!
This is a very cute , sweet and lovely film and an obvious in my favourite comfort films list!

5. DEAR ZINDAGI

I love love love this film! It portrayed mental health issues extremely realistically and maturely! All of the Dr. Jug scenes taught me something and made me reflect so much on myself and my life. It is not only a great experience to watch the film and get connected to the characters but also teaches such valuable lessons regarding life , relationships and prioritising our mental health. The dialogue is flawless and the acting is perfect! It made me laugh wholeheartedly and cry endlessly at the same time! Beautiful film.
Also once I get someone like Dr. Jug in my life , who will patiently untangle my insecuritues , show me my distructive patterns and help me out of them , it's over for y'all!

6. DIL DHADAKNE DO

This film is a reality of every family. It comforts us with the reality that its not just our family that is a little crazy or problematic but every family is. This movie had me rolling on the floor laughing especially because of Kabir. I have a big brother (who I love so much...sometimes) so every interaction that Kabir and Aisha had made me smile from ear to ear. It gives us a layered and sensitive insight to Indian families and relationships. From fractured parent-child relation to an extra marital affair to angry confrontations and happy reunion at the end, this film has it all.

7. KHOOBSURAT

This film is all grumpyxsunshine but a royal addition. He is a grumpy Prince and she is a bubbly physio-therapist who is appointed for his father. She was all he needed to bring back life to him and his family. This is such a cute , adorable and funny film. Also it stars Farhan Khan , soo of course I loved it! He had me blushing whenever he came on the screen man. The movie along with its characters is very endearing from the get-go! Also the songs are the cherry on top. If you want a fun and lighthearted rom-com to watch , this is the film for you!

8. HASEE TOH PHASEE

Well well well, I don't know about you , but Sid in this movie should be enough to convince you to watch it. Apart from Siddharth Malhotra, the love story was also so so so cute! The best part about this movie is the relatability of the characters. A lot of things about the protagonists in this film scream imperfections. Meeta was not your regular female main character! She deals with mental health problems but is also incredibly smart and goal-oriented! She is way too cool and chill. Nikhil on the other hand, is very sweet very caring, and in love with Meeta's sister! Yes, you read that right! So to see the love unfold between them is extremely entertaining and fun! Its a simple rom-com which would leave you smiling at the end of it!

9. 2 STATES :
This movie was a book adaptation of 2-states by Chetan Shah , a very prominent Indian writer. It is kinda about his life. His love story , which makes the movie all the more exciting to watch. The movie revolves around Ananya and Krish, having very different upbringing as they belonged to completely different religions and backgrounds. Krish was a Punjabi whereas Ananya was a South India, so just as it suggests they were polar opposites. But as destiny would have it , they fell in love in college. So , it goes on from there and how they manage to get their families to accept their relationship and more importantly each other and their cultures. It very beautifully potrays the cultural diversity in India and how the main characters stumble through life and their family differences together , as a couple. The last season is so so so beautiful that I tear up everytime I watch it! A very beautiful and wholesome romance movie! Must watch.

10. PIKU

Saved the best for last! Oh, how I absolutely adore this film. This movie is so so so endearing to watch. It is about a love-hate relationship between Piku and her aging and kind of nagging father! Mostly love and a slight hint of hatred and annoyance towards each other's idiosyncrasy. You know its going to be a fun watch when the plot revolves around the bowel movements and the constipation problem faced by Piku's father. The cast was immaculate with Piku being Deepika Padukone and her father being Amitabh Bachhan. Also the other main character Rana, played by Irrfan Khan. All of them were simply fabulous. Not for one moment I felt like they were acting. It was just so natural that you could feel every emotion they felt. Also the subtle chemistry between Piku and Rana was so so so wholesome to watch. Their banter , their understanding, their quiet moments , their chaotic moments was an absolute delight to watch. It genuinely made me smile from ear to ear. I have never seen such realistic portrayal of love in my life. The dialogue, the looks, the story , the direction , the comic timing , subtlety of everything in the movie is simply beautiful. Take my word and watch the film. I promise you'll not regret it. I feel like whenever I suggest this film to someone, I'm giving a part of myself , and that's how much I love this movie!

That's all for now! There'll be a part two of this, of course, because I'm no where near done with the list of my favourite films! So please stay tuned and keep loving and supporting my blog!
